As we age we tend to have fine lines around our eyes, any kind of sheen, shimmer, frost can actually accentuate the lines and make them stand out even more.  Don't be afraid of color with a matte shadow, because of the finish a blue, purple, Grey, green matte finish shadow can add dimension without accentuating lines. shimmer eye shadow is a wonderful alternative for a less natural look, with a bit of a "special" look. The best part of shimmer eye shadows are that a small amount can really make a difference. Just a touch of a shimmer shadow over a matte shadow can bring life to a matte finish. There is also an eye shadow makeup that has a heavy frost finish. These are truly fun but are forewarn, I do not recommend these shadows for pictures. They can look very sharp in any kind of picture taking. Eye shadows are also available in a cream shadow formula.

Cream shadows are a great alternative for many. They truly are very easy to apply. You must use a synthetic brush; a natural hairbrush will stick to the shadow.  Just sweep your synthetic brush across shadow and apply. A cream shadow has the benefit of lasting. Because of it's cream base it will stay put longer and the color will stay true longer. It is a great makeup artist trick to apply a cream shadow and then apply a powder eye shadow on it or with it. Cream shadow colors come in a variety of colors. When using a cream eye shadow, always keep the cover on the product. This is true with any water / resistant makeup product it can dry out quickly if not covered.
